This article is very helpful. Business people don't know how to deal with the new influx of millennials. There are many issues and concerns on both sides - see my article on http://blog.startupprofessionals.com titled "Facebook or Faceoff" for details.

Marty Zwilling, Founder & CEO, Startup Professionals, Inc.

Hi Carol, glad you liked my post, thanks for the link. it's interesting what you say about the perception split between Facebook & Linked in, I wrote a piece recently about how users should serious consider protecting their online identity & reputation, social networks have enormous benefits, but as a user, you need to be in control of your content!

Also you touch upon Facebook's continual future dominance, I agree, if they don't embrace an open social approach, they could be in serious trouble in the future. http://blog.brendanmitchell.com/2008/12/23/unsocial-networks-or-why-facebook-has-got-it-wrong-as-open-social-is-the-future/

And I think you'll like my latest post!
http://blog.brendanmitchell.com/2009/02/07/millenial-marketing/

The rolling translation of the Facebook interface into other languages has been Facebook's key growth driver in the last 6 months - Italy has grown over 1000% and Facebook is huge in South America now (with the exception of Brazil where Orkut dominates.)

Even though growth figures are high there is still room for significant further user growth. Over 30% of Canadians have a Facebook profile. If the same proportion of population adopt it in Spain, France, Italy, Germany etc it doesn't take much imagination to see the Facebook global usage figure passing 200 million this year.

It will also be worth keeping an eye on mobile usage. Facebook are now saying that 20.8 million people globally are using their mobile to access the site. These people are going there more regularly than people who just use Facebook from PC. As flat data rates become the norm and take up of newer phones increases, then mobile social network usage will also be interesting to track.
