Millenials are not only savers, they are spenders. They spend more on entertainment and staying connected than other generations. They also have unprecedented access to their money.

Financial institutions that get Gen. Y will have success for years to come.

With the cynicism around financial institutions and wariness towards stocks and classic investments, where is the future of investments for Millennials?

I also wonder if we are understanding the concept of "value" more. Ramit Sethi and Tim Ferris (both Gen Y role models) hit on this at the beginning of each of their books. Taking time to prioritize helps one know what to spend money on - and what to save for. Knowing that I value trips to far off places motivates me to save instead of spending that same cash on lattes or graphic T's.

Likewise, we're a generation that is redefining ownership. The American dream of home ownership as a pathway to wealth blew up in a lot of our (friends') faces. Netflix, Pandora and Zipcar prove we don't really need to own CDs, movies or cars either.
