As a boomer, I too thought my generation would live by different values and ethics. But, the reality is that my generation, like so many before, and so many after, did not have a good understanding of either themselves, nor the framework of our American democracy as established by our nation's founders.

I mentor a great many Gen-X and Gen-Y, and the first thing I try to get them to do is to discover who they are, where they came from, and what goals they have for themselves and our human race. One person can make a difference -- even if it is just helping one other person in this life.

http://ustv.us/blogs/blog1.pdf

The article seems to imply that Gen-Y has values and other generations don't, and that Gen-Y lives by their values while other generations don't.

Haven't youths always been comparatively more idealistic/passionate about [their zeitgeist] than other generations? Boomers were all about "free love," the peace movement, drugs, civil rights and Hippies, so how have their values changed and/or influenced their buying behavior through the years?

Some historical context and generational comparisons might help readers understand how Gen-Y is truly different.
