This is part two of a two-part video series where we talk about the biggest Millennial food trends. I’m going to cover trends three, four and five.
Trend three is I want a flavor adventure. Millennials want to travel to every region in the world, but they can’t always do it. They don’t have the time and they don’t have the money. But they do have the time and the money to explore all kinds of flavorful and healthy foods. And they will absolutely invest their energy in trying new things. So, don’t be afraid to mix the crazies, right? Like the mango with the habanero to create the margarita – it sounds nuts, but they love it.
Trend four is frictionless journey. Brands like Uber and Airbnb are wildly popular with Millennials. Why? They have little equity in old schemas and those brands are taking friction out of experiences. When it comes to food, let’s make it easier. Inspire them with recipes, make it easier to get their project done – they hate friction. If you take friction out of the journey, you’re going to increase your future profits.
Trend five is tell me what I’m eating. The reality is Millennials don’t like secrets. They want to look behind the tent. They are more interested in the story behind the food – the ingredients that are on the package. Everything matters to them. Don’t be afraid to give them the information they’re looking for.
